Kit list — 2027
Carry less.
Carry right.
GROUP KIT Supplied
Everything below has been to −40 °C with us at least once. Nothing below is a brand deal. Weigh it, pack it, then take a third out.
The four-layer system
Warm is a
sequence.
Four layers, worn in a strict order, changed on a strict rhythm. Learn it in Chamonix on day zero; by day four your hands do it for you.

Merino, 200 gsm.
Never cotton.
Two sets for the whole trip. One is for moving, one is for sleeping, and they do not meet. Wicks sweat away before it can freeze against you.
Active insulation.
On, then off.
Grid fleece or synthetic active layer. The layer you'll regulate with most: zip down on the climb, zip up on the plateau, off entirely when the kites go up.
Three-layer hardshell.
Pit zips open.
Wind is the enemy, not cold. The shell stays on from the moment you leave the tent. Hood up over the helmet, pit zips open, cuffs over the gloves.
The big parka.
Over everything.
850-fill down, sized to go over your shell, hood over your helmet. It goes on the second you stop and comes off the second you move. No exceptions, no debate.
Packing checklist
Tick it.
Then weigh it.
The list adapts to the route. Items in orange are route-specific. Group kit isn't listed — it's on our pulk, not yours.
